SOUND SYSTEM

This page is intended to provide an overview of the sound system normally supplied for artists at the Bow Valley Music Club. Performing artists are encouraged to contact our Sound Engineer well in advance of their scheduled performance at the club.

The Bow Valley Music Club, in conjunction with Nero Productions Group Incorporated (NPG), is pleased to offer our valued artistic performers a complete professional sound system, along with an experienced professional operator. The basic system described herein is supplied by the club at no cost to the artists. For artists who require special equipment or instruments this is to be supplied at their cost, and please contact NPG well in advance.

The Audio Console is a Crest X8, fifty-six frame with forty mono input channels, four stereo input channels, eight auxiliaries and eight sub groups, with true left – center – right panning capability. This console will supply four monitor mixes in four bi-amped wedges and four effects sends.

Please note this system is not capable of recording, if you wish to have your performance recorded, NPG must be contacted well in advance of your concert.

All house cabinets are factory issued Turbosound THL 2 which are a three way mid high enclosure, comprised of a single fifteen inch low mid, a six and half inch high mid driver, and a one inch horn, with the ninety by forty dispersion. The low-end frequencies are brought to life by a pair of THL 828 enclosures, that are loaded with Turbosound proprietary dual eighteen-inch drivers.

The house processing racks include a minimum of two channels of Ashly analogue equalizers, four channels of Ashly digital equalization, eight channels of Presonix signal processing with gating, another four channels of Valley gates, Yamaha SPX Series reverbs, TC Electronics reverb and delay units, and a compact disc player.

The microphone package is complete with stands and cables. Please note the package is comprised of six Shure Beta 58A vocal mics, six Shure SM 57 instrument mics, three Peavey 480C condensor mics for high hats and percussion overheads, two Electro-voice ND408A instrument mics, one Electro-voice ND308B instrument mics, and one Shure Beta 91 kick drum mic.

All eight direct boxes are manufactured by Cable-factory for Nero Productions Group and are complete with Lundahl Transformers. We also have Cable-tek’s JDI direct boxes complete with Jenson transformers when more padding is required.

The Bow Valley Music Club through NPG offers this equipment to all artists without exception and NPG will work with you to achieve the sound that you deserve. The house operates at a sound pressure level in the 100 dB range as measured from the front of house mix position. We have been working with BVMC for more than five years and have found that when the volume is excessive, regardless of the style of music, a number of our guests will not stay for the show. Therefore please keep this in mind for this venue.

NPG have several other systems, with both larger and smaller configurations if you require any further technical assistance for other dates not in conflict with the Bow Valley Music Clubs schedule.

“Sound Check” rehearsal sessions, prior to the Saturday evening concerts, are conducted with the artists between 4:00 to 5:00 PM. Please note that the sound check must be completed by 5:00 PM to allow setting up of the hall to be completed.

Please contact David Neher for further information or assistance.
